A Monet's Waterlilies BathroomWhy?
1. I like sponged paint finishes and the way I do it, it rather looks like a Monet painting.2. The ONLY thing I like about the 1960s blue fixtures in our bathroom is that this blue shows up in Monet paintings. It's too expensive (and the space too small) to replace the 1960s blue tub with a modern tub. The blue sinks and ugly 1960s gold glitter countertops can and eventually will be replaced.
BUT Maurice is and will always be blue. Who is Maurice? Maurice is the 1960s high flow toilet. We will never say good-bye to Maurice until something Ally-McBealian happens to him and he has to be put to sleep. Dave Barry wrote a loving tribute to his toilet: Head To Head. He named his Maurice. "If there is an act of Congress that Maurice cannot handle in one flush, I have no personal knowledge of it." In any case, the same is true of our Maurice, so he stays. Ergo, I must choose a look that will incorporate the 1960s blue.

3. I love Monet and have visited Giverny.
4. We have waterlilies in our own backyard.
5. It's as good an excuse as any to spend too much time and money obsessing over yet another artsy project.
There are Monet links at the bottom, but as for here...
This is my resource notebook...

Waterlilies (Nympheas At Orangerie) Monet, Claude 31" x 24" Item# FHN003270 ArtCliquesm price $20.00 -- two cabinet doors -- good color, mostly green
Jardin de Monet a Giverny Monet, Claude 50" x 41" Item# EFW00NDQ2530 ArtCliquesm price $38 -- only two inches short of upper linen; enough for upper and lower linen doors -- colors softened perfectly.
^^^^$102 allows use of "Jardin" despite nympheas theme^^^^
Or perhaps the prudent measure would be an actual Monet on the upper linen doors only and simulated waterlilies on the cabinet doors.
Waterlilies at Giverny, 1908 Monet, Claude 42" x 50" Item# CNH00N7480 ArtCliquesm price $48.00 -- perfect upper linen -- except for the colors.
Waterlilies, 1914-1917(Ninfee) Monet, Claude 36" x 40" Item# OPV00SUH20 ArtCliquesm price $30.40 -- close upper linen -- splash of correct blue -- rest would have to be shades down from print color.
Waterlilies (Nympheas) Monet, Claude 30" x 40" Item# EFW00NDQ2520 ArtCliquesm price $30.40 -- perfect lower linen; close upper linen.
^^^^$30-48 economical but colors aren't true for nympheas of needed size^^^^
