Take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.
Welcome to Fubsy's Sanitarium...
I'm your average, everyday domestic goddess (aka
Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human
Relations
),
Still, I have my sunnier Pooh-side, too. I love honey, milk, and
chocolate .
I enjoyed the
Anne of Green Gables
book series as a child and enjoy the Wonderworks miniseries as an adult.
I'm always finding a new craft/project I want to try. Especially when I get my
paws on a
Martha Stewart
Living Magazine
! *pant*pant* I'm trying to be more reasonable, however. As part of my
Creataholic 12-Step Program
I'm pushing Martha Stewart out of my life.
...where we're literally bouncing off the walls!
if average means staying home with toddler
twins
. Starved for adult conversation, I've found the Internet to be a connection
with the outside world. I can't say it's saving my sanity, but it keeps me a
happier lunatic. Of course I'm such an adult that my favorite things are
anything that hints of
Veggie Tales
,
Milne
or
Suess
;
Sesame Street
;
Wishbone
; and mass dandelion breaks (ala Berke Breathed).
My favorite elements from the above are the Grinch, and Oscar the Grouch
One of my favorite TV shows is
Ally McBeal
. (But does that make me sunny, neurotic, or warped?)
Early heroes include
Princess Leia
; current heroes include and
T.E. Lawrence
, the true-life Indiana Jones.
I'm ridiculously creative and go mad if I can't be indulging
my creative urges
-- and my creative urges lean more towards florals and Poohs and such -- as
opposed to pal
Suzy's
Edward Gorey
bents and her closet-inhabiting skeletons.
Of course, I do this only to make room for
Debbie Travis
of "The Painted House." I cannot recommend
Debbie's book
or
videos
enough. *sigh* Shall I ever be free of my creative demons? No...The forces
of creative evil are too strong, and even as I lead you to the fount of freedom
from Martha (click on the Image of the Beast), I know I'm like the jilted lover
who trumpets his hatred of his beloved. Shall I ever be free of this
torture?!?!...
"Hi. I'm Christine W. It's been seven months since I made my own cheese for
the bridal brunch I co-hosted for
David and Kim
..."
I like
dandelions
(Robert Fulghum's view on them have always been my view); and most likely the
reason I like thistles so much are because they're purple, and the symbol of
Scotland.
I love the art of Alphonse Mucha.
I would have loved to have been a hair model for him!
He rose to fame after doing a poster of
Sarah Bernhardt
in
"Gismonda."
My family called me "Sarah Heartburn" from the moment I learned a facial
expression can earn one a response from others!
In my sunny vein, I have a tradition of baking a gingerbread house for my
"sister" the first Sunday after Thanksgiving. While I do this, I watch
"A Christmas Story"
,
IBM's "A Christmas Carol"
with George C. Scott, and
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
. Although my favorite among equals
is
the Grinch, my other two most heartfelt traditions are decorating the
home-grown, hand-felled (then composted) Christmas tree and watching
"A Charlie Brown Christmas"
. For me it just isn't Christmas without a decorated tree, and
Linus reminding all of us what Christmas is all about
:
So there you have my skeptical and sunny sides. And then there's always the
gallows humor which I think is most often present. For example...the lovely
gingerbread house I make for my "sister"? The tradition is for my hard work
and effort to fall apart and be a disaster. I'm a twisted, warped, strange
person (that's why Suzy and Helen keep me around)...I strive for the very sunny
best, anticipate disaster, and (usually) delight in the absurd realities that
the two former usually dish up. How else would it/could it be in a house with
toddler
twins
?

myself Domestic Web Goddess).
